Located on the Konkan shore, Ratnagiri is a city and one of district center of Maharashtra state. Ratnagiri Fort is a located 2 km from Ratnagiri city. It is also known as Ratna durg Fort or Bhagawati Fort or Ratna durga killa. The fort is covered from 3 sides by Arabian Sea. Bhagawati Temple is the main tourist attraction of the Rathnagiri fort. There is a light house on the fort. TheBaw Palace is one more attraction of Ratnagiri. The palace is built in Pagoda style of architecture. Burma King was imprisoned here.
Ganpatipule, a coastal town and famous tourist attraction, is just about 25 kms away from Ratnagiri. Not only it has striking beach city, but also Ganpatipule is a pilgrim centre. As the name suggests the temple ‘Ganesha’ is situated here. The idol is said to be self-manifested. The temple is situated next to the mountain.
